Beach tourism to be developed in Karakalpakstan

28.02.2020. In the Ellikkalin district of Karakalpakstan, it is planned to create a beach complex.

Not far from Khiva and Urgench is located Akchakul - a system of lakes around which it is planned to create a beach cluster, with the necessary beach infrastructure, restaurants, parks, hotels and a yurt camp. Earlier, the agency for attracting foreign investments said that the cost of the project will cost about two million dollars.

“Khiva is a peculiar magnet of the western part of Uzbekistan in terms of tourism. Hundreds of thousands of tourists come here, but due to the fact that it is very hot in summer, about 50 degrees in the afternoon, tourists have to either walk along Ichan-Kala early in the morning or late at night. Therefore, for further development of tourism in this region, we propose to bet on beach tourism. This is one of the new directions.” - noted the representative of the State Committee for Tourism development, Timur Mirzaev.

On June 1, 2020, the Akchakul Beach Sport Festival will be held, where they plan to invite domestic and foreign athletes in order to popularize this area. Also, buses will be organized to deliver tourists to Akchakul. The territory of the complex is about 5 hectares, where up to 50-60 thousand people can be served annually.
